Working 8-5 or even longer is something I can barely remember. I’ve been a stay-at-home mom for 3 years now and loving it. At the rate that I’m trying to work at home, without sacrificing time for my family, I know I earned more when I had a job. But from my point of view, there is nothing more rewarding than witnessing how a family evolves and grows.
Still, sometimes I think what if I go back to work? Would I be able to find some Business Analyst Jobs in the market? Can I still recall all the tools and techniques I learned years ago? I probably could but do I really want to, after working at home for some time?
Yes, I must… because in time kids grow up, priorities change and when the time comes for me to work in an office, I’ll embrace it with open arms. For now, I’ll enjoy every second of every minute that I spend with my family.
Have you ever had a “birthday party shopping” done in less than 2 hours? That includes the food and drinks for 60-70, the party favors and prizes, and… everything else. We did, and wow it was such a race since we were got to the mall at 7:30 pm (closes at 9pm).
The reason behind the rush is that the birthday celebrant said she didn’t want a party months ago, and even weeks ago. But suddenly, she said she wanted one, 3 days before her birthday. I knew it wouldn’t be a problem really, with the mall just being 5 mins away from us. But what I didn’t know was that their POS systems are disrupted when nearing closing time.
I was at their customer service for some 10 minutes after all my items were totaled because their terminals couldn’t approve my payment (debit card). They had to try it in a lot of different terminals before payment could be processed. Yeah I know I should have had some cash, but since it was RUSH and we never had a problem taken it from hub’s card, we thought it better to shop first that line up to withdraw from an ATM.
Lesson learned for us, when it’s nearing closing time, it’s always best to have some cash. Next time I’ll know but at least everything still went according to plan last night and we’re all set for the P-A-R-T-Y!
