Financial Goals for the Year 2011

I don’t think I can be a millionaire this year unless I hit the jackpot for the lottery. But, I do hope that before the year ends, we will be able to purchase a car. I was thinking of buying a house first, but I don’t think it’s feasible at this time. Next year would be my target for a nice house with a garden and outdoor lighting. So my financial goals for 2011 would be to buy a car, build up our savings, and be able to invest in stocks. Those are what I hope to accomplish for this year. How about you? What are you financial goals this year?

Is buying a second hand car more practical?

I, for one, am not the type who likes to buy everything brand new. I also buy from thrift stores, swapping corners, and from online marketplaces that offer second hand goods. I find it practical, especially if I’m buying something which I’m not going to use everyday, or if I find a really good buy or good as new item for a much lower price than a brand new one. But those are for small items. I haven’t tried buying a car yet, so I would have to make sure to bring a mechanic or a friend who knows stuff about cars, engines, and even thrust bearings just to make sure I don’t end up buying a car that would sputter and die in the middle of the highway.
