I am a BIG fan of online services. Online shopping, online banking..so many things that we can do now without having to leave our home! And being the busy mom that I am, I hate having to wait in line, long queues and the hassles of commuting. So as much as I can, I find ways of making my life easier. I recently discovered that BPI (Bank of the Philippine Islands) now offers online applications for opening an ATM (Savings) account. All you have to do is fill out their online application form at the BPI Direct site, and you will receive a confirmation email and information on what requirements to bring and when you can pick your ATM kit. It took me less than 5 minutes to fill out and send in my application, and I will be able to pick it up at the branch near our place here in Valenzuela. (Yes, you pick the branch nearest you or whichever branch will be most convenient for you to serve as your “home branch”.) Processing time isn’t super duper fast though, since I have to wait for a week, but hey, I am in no rush and I didn’t have to wait in line anyway. Isn’t that wonderful? The service is easy and really convenient. I know I already have an EON card but I want a savings account so I can start saving my online earnings from this month forward..
And I guess what I find really awesome is that the initial deposit required is just P500 which makes it easy for everyone to start their own savings account. Maintaining balance is P500 as well.
I also set it up with BPI Save Up account which I will be discussing in my next post. So for those of you wanting to save money but find it difficult because withdrawing cash from the ATM is so easy (LOL!), BPI Save Up is the product for us. *wink*
